Placer
County Wineries and Restaurants are Spotlighted October 2 In Second
Annual Auburn Wine Festival Placer
County's growing wine industry isn't a secret any more. With a half dozen bonded
wineries and more than a dozen vineyards, the county is regaining its reputation
as a top producer in California. To help celebrate this resurgence, the
Placer County Wine & Grape Association, in cooperation with the Old Town Business
Association and the Downtown Business Association, is throwing a party and everyone
is invited. Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 2, for the Second Annual
Auburn Wine Festival. Some
35 retail shops in Old Town and Downtown will host 24 wineries and 16 restaurants
and catering firms (at the time of this writing). Participants will not only get
to taste great food and wine, they'll have the opportunity to shop at the same
time and get a close-up look at Auburn and all it has to offer. Placer
County wineries--Secret Ravine Winery, Ophir Wines LLC, Hyatt-Baumbach Wines,
Pescatore Winery, Green Family Winery and Mt. Vernon Winery--will be pouring during
the Auburn Wine Festival. Other Sierra Foothills area wineries participating include
Gold Hill Winery, Luchessi Vineyards, Mandrona Vineyards, Nevada City Winery,
Smith Winery and Perry Creek Winery. Restaurants serving food include
Drooling Dog Barbeque, Bootlegger's, Open Door Café, Z-Pie, Auburn Country Grill,
A Chef's Journey, Old Town Pizza, Latitude's and Eden Valley.
Tickets are priced at $30 each
in advance; $40 at the door. Tasters will receive a free logo wine glass
and a passport to all of the venues. Ticket holders will qualify for special prizes
if they obtain six stamps on the passport, three from Downtown merchants and three
from Old Town. |
