![]() Wine Club Tasting Notes, May 2010To Enjoy New Wines, Grab Your PassportWe’re continuing a trend this month of introducing you to imported wines through Carpe Vino’s wine club. We’ve always focused on selling California wines because that’s what the majority of our customers prefer and because it’s what we know best. But we think it is time to segue into extending our purview globally; time to step up to the challenge of breaking out of our little comfort zone. The reasons for this are simple: we’re encountering great imported wines that are truly affordable, and that’s key in today’s economy. At the same, time, Drew is working hard to source wines that exhibit flavor profiles that will appeal to our clients who prefer California wines. There is one major issue with which we must deal. . .and that’s educating ourselves. . .about new wineries, new (to us) grapes and dealing with language issues. We’ve encountered some real tongue twisters, but we’re sucking it up! Not to worry, though, because we know where our grapes are crushed. . .California and West Coast wines still rule at Carpe Vino and we’ve got some beautiful selections on the list this month. - Gary Moffat
