All New Wine Club Tasting Notes are Now Online

Part of the Carpe Vino Wine Club program is we produce tasting notes for each wine selected for each month’s six clubs.  Then those notes are archived and easily accessible so that should you not open your wine immediately, you can check back to find out the details.

After using the same format for years, we’ve upped the ante with a new, more sophisticated approach (like with so many of our basic tools—from the web site to the online store to a new logo that we’ll be unveiling very soon).  Now, each wine selection is accompanied by a larger photo, with a short, concise description of the wine and winery tasting notes.  You’ll also always know the alcohol content, number of cases produced and the winemaker’s name.

Navigation is simplified, too.  Each club has its own tab, so you’ll always know what you are getting.  Plus, you can see what wines are available in other club options (recognizes that in some cases we’ll use a single one for more than one club.

We hope you appreciate these advances.  We’re always attempting to make the wine club and better experience for everyone.  Enjoy!

We Shatter 600 Wine Club Membership Barrier

What we thought would take a full year starting in January—recruiting another 100 members—actually took less than nine months. Last Friday night, Tommy and CoCo Herren of Fair Oaks joined us for dinner and decided to join the Wine Club after Server Brittany Hale sold them on the benefits of membership.

As the 601 membership, the Herren’s will be back to Carpe Vino next week as our guests for dinner during the Totally Tomatoes II prix-fixe dinner. They’ll enjoy dinner for two and a bottle of wine that we select. Our congratulations and thanks to the Herrens!

The second part of the promotion was to provide three additional prizes to existing Wine Club members. Winners of a dinner for two and a bottle of wine to our prix-fixe dinner next week are Mike and Sue Williams (member since 2/08) of Auburn. Ellen Sterrett (member since 11/11) won a magnum of wine and Audrey Haines of Loomis (member since 4/09) won a $50 gift card.

“Our Wine Club is one of the keys to our success at Carpe Vino,” said co-owner Drew Moffat. “Breaking the 600-member barrier is a big deal because with about 1,200 people involved, it forms a true community of food and wine lovers.”

The 500-member mark was surpassed just after Christmas in 2011. But Drew has a much more ambitious goal for summiting 700 members. “I know we can increase membership to that level by January 1,” he said. “We’ll get a rush of new members of people who want to come to our Christmas party. . .this year at the Blue Goose in Loomis.”

Also, a promotion is in development to make it easy to give a year’s membership as a gift. Then there is always that little dynamic called “word of mouth”!

We Heard You. . .New Sunday & Tuesday Hours

When you hear the same request over and over again, you know it’s time to make a change. So, after much prodding from our customers—especially our Wine Club members—we’re now open for dinner on Tuesday evenings. On Sunday afternoons from noon till 5 p.m. you can pick up wine or join us for a glass in the wine bar. We’ll also have a limited number of appetizers available for purchase—cheese plates and the like.

On Tuesday evenings, dinner service begins at 5 p.m., and the full menu is available. We began our new hours in August, and as the word gets out, we’re starting to see some nice business develop.

So, we’re now open six days per week and five evenings for dinner service. The only day we are closed going forward is Monday.
