Winery Tasting Notes:
“Exotic notes of white peach, citrus blossom and fig permeate our incredibly lively, refreshing and food-friendly 2012 Fighting Brothers Semillon. The crisp high-toned fruit flavors are beautifully supported by the wonderfully rich, slightly yeasty mouthfeel. The wine finishes with tremendous length and finesse, ending with a flourish of floral accents.”

Jay’s Take: “Only 500 cases were produced of this gem. Perfect for the summer evening, and perhaps best enjoyed with your favorite seafood.”

2010 Skinner “Six Horse” Zinfandel (El Dorado)

SixHorse_zin10-152x362.173118$29.95/bottle or Standard Wine Club Discounts Apply

Winery Tasting Notes:  “This inaugural vintage has classic Zinfandel characteristics without going over the top. It has some nice brambly fruit aromatics, coupled with vanilla, nutmeg, plum, and white pepper. The palate is polished and supple with mild tannins and pleasant acidity. We aged the wine on its lees for 24 months in 100% French Oak, primarily neutral. It is unfined and unfiltered.”

Jay’s Take: “This is a really unique inaugural release zinfandel that yielded only 151 cases. Produced by it’s sister label Skinner Vineyards, the name “six horse” is derived from the 6-hp engine that was utilized at the winery during the late 1800’s.”

2010 Sailor’s Grave Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

index.173847$39.95/bottle or $34.95/bottle on six +

Winery Tasting Notes: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Syrah, 2% Merlot, 2% Malbec
“Radiates deep plum and ruby-colored hues, and will continue to improve for up to15 years (don’t forget to decant!). The aromas are well defined with concentrated cassis and ripe black cherry, backed by mocha and toasted vanilla notes. On the palate, this full-bodied tannic cabernet has firm mid-palate presence and loads of cellar-worthy potential. As the spectrum of flavors unfolds, the huckleberry and raspberry give way to a complex mocha, coffee, vanilla matrix -all balanced under the fruit notes, giving the wine a tingly and silky finish. This is a serious cabernet sauvignon – a truly wonderful splurge. Try it with a mushroom-encrusted filet mignon served with sun-dried tomato compote and a side of roasted blue potatoes with sea salt. When cellared properly, will drink well through 2030.”

Jay’s Take: “One of the most unique wines in stock, let alone, one of the most unique labels.  But don’t let labels fool you, this wine is legit.”
