During September, we’ve been fortunate here at Carpe Vino to acquire some amazing cabernet sauvignons. This quintessential big red wine in its most prized form comes from world-famous wine regions such as Bordeaux and the Napa Valley. However, here in California, this widely planted grape is arguably KING! This Saturday September 23rd from 1-4pm sample and stock up on a smattering of TASTY gems. All have been staples here over the years and all come with exceptional pricing but we cannot publish the discounts on our website. So, you must be present to take advantage. With a tasting value of almost $200, we’re proud to showcase these wines to our valued Wine Club Members at no charge. Here’s what we are pouring and we’ll see you then: (please remember two-person maximum per wine club membership, no guests).

Obsidian-Ridge-2.1009552015 Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon (Lake County)

Winery Tasting Notes:
“Dark aromas of ripe blackberries and black currants mulled with spicy cloves and anise rise from the glass, complemented by hints of cacao beans and dark chocolate nibs. On the palate, the wine is dense and full-bodied, with a core of black fruit compote and hints of licorice. is is a textured wine with medium tannins, nishing with a dusting of light oak tannin. While still youthful, this is quite the impressive rendition of our Estate offering.”

CAB-GENERIC.1012182014 Buehler “Estate” Cabernet Sauvigon (Napa Valley, CA)

Winery Tasting Notes:
“The aromas hint at black fruit: ripe black cherries and black plums. Enticing barrel qualities of cola and spice complement the fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine shows layers of deeply extracted flavors that only mature hillside vineyards can give. Enjoy for 15- 20 years from the vintage.”

napa_cab_nonvint_260x980.1018312014 Hall Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

Wine Advocate Notes: 91 Points

“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc) represents the least expensive wine in the Hall portfolio at $55. The color is a saturated purple, and the wine rich, chewy and unctuously textured, with ripe tannin and a round, juicy mouthfeel. For a generic Napa, it has plenty of upside to it and will actually benefit from several more years of bottle age and keep for 15-20 years.”

Vineyard29.1020182014 Vineyard 29 “CRU” Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

Wine Advocate Notes: 93 Points

Winery Tasting Notes:
“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance other Bordeaux varieties, such as Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Its sees about 50% new French oak and is a relatively large cuvée of just over 5,500 cases, meant to be drunk in its exuberant youth – the first 8-10 years. The 2014 Cru has turned out every bit as strong as their 2013, which says something. Dense, opaque purple color, wonderfully sweet red and back fruits, an enticing fragrance, silky tannins and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, with no heaviness or rusticity, are the kind of characteristics that consumers love and will certainly enjoy in this wine that should age effortlessly for at least a decade or more.”
