Here’s a shout out to all of the men on the Carpe Vino email list: If you don’t have a reservation for Valentine’s Day, better get off the dime and call Carpe Vino at 530-823-0320. Pity the poor fools who start dialing on February 12!
This year, Chef Alexander has created a very special, five-course Lover’s Delight featuring Ahi tuna, Dayboat scallops, Jasmine smoked duck breast, 48-hour Angus beef short rib “Red Velvet” profiteroles (prepared by Chef Courtney McDonald). For the full menu and all preparations, click here.
The cost is $95++ per person, and we are doing the event for two nights: Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14. We expect a full-court press on reservations, so offering the special menu for two nights will make it easier to accommodate everyone, especially those folks who don’t want to fight the crowds on Valentine’s Day.
A couple of important points: this is a fixed menu; one choice for each of the five courses, though we will do our very best to sate vegetarians who will be joining us. If your group includes vegans or anyone with shellfish allergies, however, this menu will present challenges. Just full disclosure before you make reservations.
More boilerplate: The first course is served with shave foie gras, but the dish can easily be presented without it. Also substitutions are politely declined; a maximum of two credit cards can be used for payment.
Finally, it is mandatory that everyone has a great time; no squabbling or lover’s spats permitted.
