Every January is “California Restaurant Month,” when destinations and restaurants across the state showcase the best of local cuisine. From special events and menus to pre-fixe dinners and exclusive deals, California Restaurant Month participants bring to life the culinary experiences that make the Golden State the No. 1 food travel destination in the country.

Visit Placer has kicked off its 2019 tourism efforts with incredible “Restaurant Week” campaign.  With three days left, you still have time to visit several of Placer County’s finest eateries (listed below) whom are participating in “Placer Celebrates Mandarins” week and shining a spotlight on one of the county’s signature crops.

Okay, so here is one of the coolest tidbits about Carpe Vino’s participation in this event.  For both mandarin-inspired dishes being produced, Chef Alexander and Pastry Chef Courtney McDonald will be USING THEIR OWN MANDARINS from FOUR TINES FARM here in Placer County!  Now that is truly Farm-To-Fork!  Here is what they are making:

Hawaiian Swordfish | Braised Fennel, Beets, Satsuma Mandarin, Nasturtium, Pistachio Butter

Mandarin “Creamsicle” | Crème Fraiche Semifreddo, Mandarin-Vanilla Sorbet, Mandarin Confit, Brown Butter Shortbread (pictured above)

*Participating Auburn establishments include Carpe Vino, Monkey Cat, TrePazzi Trattoria, Joe Caribe, Max’s Restaurant and Nectar Café. Other restaurants include The Flower Farm Café and Il Pizzaiolo Wood Fired Pizza in Loomis; Hawks Restaurant and Farmhaus in Granite Bay; Tin Lantern Bar and Grill in Meadow Vista; Makers Mountain Eatery in Foresthill; and Il Pizzaiolo in Colfax.
