Our New Holiday Tradition: A Wine Club Contribution

PlacerCommFound.175750Just a reminder:  Typically, this coming Sunday would have been the evening of our annual Wine Club Holiday Party, a long-time, traditional event that was Carpe Vino’s “thank you” to the faithful who have helped us build our business.  For more than 10 years, it was a gathering that we looked forward to both warmly and, as the event grew larger, with dread.  As we let our Wine Club members know last month, we decided–with much sadness–to end the program and segue into a new approach.

So, next week we will be delivering a check for $5,000 to the Placer Community Foundation as a gift from the members of the Carpe Vino Wine Club.  And, in line with our sensitivities as a hospitality venue, we’re requesting that the money be earmarked for food-based initiatives and programs that support the homeless.  These are two substantial needs in our community, and ones that we feel our Wine Club members would be enthusiastic about supporting.

We’re setting up a time for a check presentation, and we’ll run a photo in the next edition of Window on Old Town.

After we first announced our new approach, we received an overwhelming response of support from Wine Club members.  Drew and I really appreciate the kind words and the concurrence of the folks we appreciate most.

Our hope is that many deserving neighbors in our community will benefit.
