“Provence” Book Signing was an Event on Steroids

With great pre-event press coverage in the Sacramento Bee (thanks Al Pierleoni!) and the Auburn Journal, we were anticipating an excellent turnout last Thursday when New York Times best selling author Elizabeth Bard was in da house for a book signing event celebrating, “Picnic in Provence.”

We weren’t expecting, however, that 80 people would crush the joint at the same time for our very first book-signing event to hear Elizabeth discuss her memoir and read selected passages.  Thankfully, the crowd was very understanding. . .especially since we had a healthy supply of Provence wines and a special, one-night Provençal appetizer homage.

The solution was to split the event into two, half-hour sessions.  Elizabeth was absolutely amazing and the people loved her.  The result was a long line of folks patiently waiting to get their books signed.  It was all quite civilized.

When it was over, Elizabeth joined your proprietor and a host of friends for dinner at Carpe Vino.  It was a magnificent evening and we hope to have her back in the future. . .she’s now working on her third book.
