Saturday Tasting Line-up ~ DUCKHORN WINES OPEN TODAY!
Last weekend, Carpe Vino WC Members were treated to FIVE fantastic wines from the Duckhorn family of wines. Turns out, last week’s event was our most successful Saturday tasting of the year!!! If you couldn’t make it…fear not…we are tasting all FIVE wines again this Saturday from 1-4pm. This complimentary tasting (CV WINE CLUB MEMBERS ONLY) will feature a wide spectrum of varieties including; sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, Bordeaux inspired blends and merlot! Each Duckhorn winery is represented including; Decoy, Migration, Paraduxx and Duckhorn. This is a tasting opportunity that you cannot get anywhere…UNLESS you visited each Duckhorn winery individually. 2015 Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley)
Details: $30/bottle or $24.95/bottle on 6+
This elegant wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon harvested from our estates and other select premium Napa Valley vineyards. A portion of the Sauvignon Blanc was barrel-fermented in French oak. This technique and the addition of the Sémillon add depth and complexity to the aroma and palate, enhancing the ripe citrus and tropical flavors of the Sauvignon Blanc.
Winemaker Notes:
Exotic aromas of passion fruit, papaya, ginger and star fruit leap from the glass, along with layers of grapefruit and melon. On the palate, a lovely Sémillon-driven silkiness provides delicate weight to this wine, while crisp, refreshing acidity and vibrant citrus flavors draw the wine to a lingering finish with notes of Meyer lemon and Kaffir lime.
2014 Migration Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

Since our first vintage in 2001, Migration has developed a refined and compelling style that balances vibrancy and finesse. Defined by the idea of movement, Migration is dedicated to going beyond our Anderson Valley origins and exploring Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions. This exploration has taken us to the storied vineyards of California’s Russian River Valley, where clockwork fog and Goldridge sandy loam soils have contributed to a Pinot Noir with beautiful, high-tone red fruit flavors of strawberry, cherry and cranberry and enticing hints of orange-cinnamon spice.
Winemaker Notes:
Cherry and red berry notes leap from the glass followed by complex aromas of rich earth, rose petal and baking spices. On the palate, this wine displays impressive volume, with abundant cherry pie and strawberry flavors, and a note of spiced orange peel, all framed by just a touch of sweet and toasty new French oak.
2013 Decoy Red Wine (Sonoma County)

Our 2012 Decoy Sonoma County Red Wine offers a lush and appealing expression of Bordeaux-varietal winemaking.
Winemaker Notes: 25% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Zinfandel, 15% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petite Sirah, 9% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec
The exceptional 2013 growing season yielded a spectacular Decoy Red Wine filled with alluring layers of cassis, black cherry and plum, as well as hints of baking spice, black licorice and cocoa. On the palate, this wine is weighty and deliciously complex, with refined tannins adding length and focus to a long, satisfying finish.
2012 Paraduxx Red Wine (Napa Valley)

From the only winery devoted to stylish Napa Valley blends, the Paraduxx Proprietary Red Wine is a bold and expressive blend crafted to satisfy the modern palate. It has rich, full fruit flavors and soft, elegant tannins.
Winemaker Notes: 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Zinfandel, 4% Petit Verdot
Blended around a core of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is one of the most structured and age-worthy expressions of our Proprietary Red Wine that we have ever made. The nose offers deep, concentrated aromas of blackberry cobbler and rich brambly fruit. The palate is soft and rich, with balanced tannins framing lush layers of blueberry, blackberry and spice, all of which carry through to a long, supple finish.
2013 Duckhorn Merlot (Napa Valley)

Our Napa Valley Merlot is a complex blend of several individual vineyard lots, incorporating fruit from our estate vineyards and from top independent growers throughout the Napa Valley. The final wine is a rich and cohesive expression of the entire Napa Valley, reflecting the varied microclimates and soils of this unique appellation.
Winemaker Notes: 88% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc
This gorgeous wine displays intense aromas of ripe cherry, followed by more nuanced elements of cedar, sweet spices, orange peel and cigar box. On the palate, layers of black raspberry and spiced plum mingle with more savory notes of nutmeg and pencil lead. With firm, well-integrated tannins that extend the finish, this beautifully structured Merlot also promises great ageability.
