Got the perfect evening lined up Valentine’s Day but don’t have the wine yet? Then drop on by CV this Saturday between 1 P.M. and 4 P.M. to taste and stock-up on some delicious vino! We’ll have FOUR excellent selections that can be enjoyed on their own or be paired with your Valentine’s favorite meal. As the saying goes, “chocolate is nice, roses are fine, but nothing says I love you like a nice glass of wine.” Here is what we are pouring: (please remember two person maximum per wine club membership).

 

 

 

 

Schramsburg “Mirabelle” Brut Rose NV (California)

Winery Tasting Notes:
“The Mirabelle Rose has generous aromatic nuances of strawberry, cherry and raspberry jam. The bountiful berry aromas are accentuated by notes of citrus, mandarin orange and juicy pineapple. Upon first taste there is a tropical essence, of mango and pineapple that is followed by dark cherry. The viscous palate lingers and finishes with a snappy acidity.”

 

 

 

 

 

2014 De Morgenzon “Maestro” White Wine (South Africa)

“The 2014 Maestro White, now in bottle of course, has a lively, slightly grassy bouquet with touches of gunflint developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, and there is good fruit intensity with fresh pear and citrus lemon combining nicely with the subtle pepperiness on the finish. This fulfills the potential it was showing last year.”

“Wine Spectator” Tasting Notes: 92 Points
“Solid, offering a big core of yellow apple, anise, white peach and mirabelle plum flavors, backed by enticing honeysuckle and jasmine notes. Has weight and cut, with a minerally underpinning on the finish. Roussanne, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Viognier. Drink now through 2018.”

“The only 2014 tasted was the early-bottled 2014 Pinot Noir Land?s Edge Vineyards, which come from a vineyard four miles from the Pacific Ocean. Aged in 32% new French oak, the wine displays raspberry and blueberry fruit, damp earth, fresh porcini mushrooms and plenty of minerality. This is a juicy, tightly knit, but concentrated and promising Pinot Noir that has that forward fruit of this vintage well displayed.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2013 Martinelli “EVO” Zinfandel (Russian River Valley)

“The 2013 “Vigneto di Evo” Zinfandel has aromas of dark red fruit, Bing cherries, and hints of conifer and rose petal. The palate is medium weight with flavors of sour cherry, raspberry, and red plum skin, with a slightly earthy/mineral finish.”
