Stay & Dine with Park Victorian B&B and Carpe Vino
Finally, visitors to Old Town Auburn have a luxurious lodging option for staying overnight:  The just-opened Park Victorian on Snowden Hill at 195 Park Street overlooking the Historic District.  This classic, late 1800s structure has undergone a spectacular, ground-up restoration to create six guest rooms and beautiful public spaces, including a parlor, gourmet kitchen and dining room.

Situated on six acres, the B&B is just the opening gambit of what is planned to be a comprehensive hospitality center.  The grounds are being landscaped and future development will include construction of 40 private cottages, expanded parking and potentially retail space.  It is a game-changer for Old Town, to be sure, as guests will naturally seek to explore the historic enclave.

Partners Sam Hales and Kelly Cunningham have created a destination that dovetails perfectly with the sensibilities and level of service that we strive to maintain at Carpe Vino.  We’re so perfectly aligned, that we’ve partnered with Sam and Kelly to create the Park Victorian’s first package offer called “Stay & Dine.”  It includes dinner for two at Carpe Vino (two salads, appetizer to share and two entrees) plus roundtrip transportation to The Park Victorian in our GEM electric vehicle. Price is $350; available only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

This is the Stanford guest room, furnished with a king-size
bed with organic mattress from Old Town’s Tucked In.

Carpe Vino is also welcoming Park Victorian guests to participate in our Saturday Wine Club tastings at no charge, for two people per room. . .just show us your key card.  Each Park Victorian guest will also receive a $10 “chip” to use for any purchase at Carpe Vino (not combined with any other offers).

Each guest room has been magnificently restored with refinished fir flooring, ensuite bathroom facilities with marble vanities and king beds featuring natural, organic bedding from Old Town’s Tucked In (if you enjoy your sleep on Tucked In’s beds at the hotel and desire to purchase a mattress, Tucked In will deduct the room rate from your mattress cost).  The entire structure is furnished with Victorian pieces as well as authentic reproductions.

Guest rooms have excellent views, including some with vistas of Old Town.  Rooms are named after notable citizens of Auburn and those who have influenced the community, from Claude Chana to Theodore Judah to Viola Wrigley.  Room rates range from $245 to $295 per night.  The Shannon Room, ideal for a single traveler, is priced at $125.

From Gary: “We’ve heard the same lament for years from our out-of-town regulars—there just isn’t a really unique and comfortable place to stay near Old Town.  With the opening of The Park Victorian, that’s all changed.  Drew and I are absolutely delighted with the opportunity to cooperate with Sam and Kelly. . .our businesses are an absolutely perfect fit.”

There’s more good news for Auburn.  The pair has also acquired Downtown’s Tuttle Mansion, another venerable structure with an engaging history that also will be transformed into a bed and breakfast where guests can enjoy “simple country luxury.”
