Domaine Collin – Cremant de Limoux, Brut Rose NV (France)
Winery Tasting Notes:
“This elegantly constructed rosé is pale salmon pink in color. Though the wine is primarily made from Chardonnay, subtle wild strawberry notes are detectable in the nose and on the palate from the Pinot Noir. The crisp, mineral Chardonnay is softened by the lush and aromatic Chenin Blanc. The result is a lively wine with a lot of character, without any aggressive or astringent notes. This is a wonderfully versatile rosé ideal or pork and salmon dishes, or simply on its own as an aperitif.”
Smith-Madrone Riesling 2014 (Napa Valley, CA)
Winery Tasting Notes:
“A nose of honeysuckle, orange blossom, crisp citrus fruits and minerality is followed by touches of
white peach and pear. The wine is very dry, smooth, discreetly elegant with a bright acidity and a silky mouthfeel. The aftertaste lingers on the palate with a refreshing zing of crisp citrus fruits. This wine is made from mountain grown grapes, honoring the international tradition of Riesling which thrives on steep hillsides.” Vines are 42 years old.
Hollywood & Vine Chardonnay 2014 (Napa Valley)
Winery Tasting Notes:
“The cool-climate origins of this crisp, fruit-driven Chardonnay are evidenced in the aromas that add notes of wet granite and a touch of sweet lemongrass to the jasmine, green apple and bright orange zest notes. This ripe, aromatic Chardonnay was fermented in a combination of new and once-used French oak barrels plus a few barrels of steel, and kept sur-lie with biweekly battonage, so the floral notes are supported by a few deep base notes of toasty vanilla and fresh lees. On the palate, the wine shows integrated, complex flavors of green apple, apricot, a touch of mineral character and a bright, crisp finish which highlights the citrus notes.”
Boen Pinot Noir 2015 (Russian River Valley, CA)
“Wine Spectator” Tasting Notes: 90 Points
“Flavors of bright cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, coconut and black licorice are complexed by hints of toast, smoked meat and barrel spice. A medium bodied wine with bright acidity and very fine, persistent tannins.”
Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 (Paso Robles, CA
Winery Tasting Notes:
“Paso Robles is one of California’s most pastoral domains. Its name roughly translates to “Passageway of Oaks,” and indeed, majestic trees mark the landscape. Amongst the rolling hills and native habitat lie manicured vineyards, where ideal soil exists for farming Cabernet. Dry, warm conditions are typical, yet evenings are chilled by a breeze from the Pacific just 18 miles to the west, allowing fruit to ripen into luxurious richness. At nearly 1,000 feet, soils are elevated sea beds where shell fossils are often found.
Deep ruby in color, the 2015 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon expresses aromas of freshly picked black currants, ripe black cherries and blackberries, with subtle notes of violets, mocha and dried spices. On the palate, it’s a big, powerful, modern-styled wine layered with heaps of juicy blackberry and cherry fruit, while nuances of cedar, clove, nutmeg and vanilla bean round out the long smooth finish. It’s full-bodied and rich, balanced by fresh acidity and firm, polished tannins.”
