W.L. Weller Special Reserve, “The Original Wheated Bourbon” is one of the several different labels/whiskeys coming from Buffalo Trace.  Essentially, Buffalo Trace is like the N.Y. Yankees of whiskey distilleries when it comes to its lineup of labels including; Blanton’s, Elmer T. Lee, Colonel E.H. Taylor, Old Charter, Stagg, Sazerac and the list keeps going.  The W.L. Weller label consists of several different expressions including; Full Proof, Antique 107, C.Y.P.B., 12-year and the Special Reserve.  CV Wine & Spirits carries most of these expressions depending on their availability which these days is very sparse.

The Special Reserve is a delicious entry level Bourbon that due to popular demand has become difficult to obtain.  For those wondering what “The Original Wheated Bourbon” stamp on the label is referring to…they replace the RYE with WHEAT in the mashbill.  The mashbill for this and all W.L. Weller Bourbons are strictly proprietary.
