“Wine Business Monthly” 2017 Hot Brands — Bella Grace Vineyards!

Carpe Vino has a knack for finding great wines at great prices, but even more so when it comes to finding AMAZING ZINFANDELS at thrifty prices.  That said, even we must give ourselves a little “pat-on-the-back” for procuring this insane DOUBLE-GOLD ZINFANDEL from AMADOR COUNTY.

The success of Bella Grace owners Charlie & Michael Havill is largely due to the SOUND ADVICE they received from Koerner Rombauer (Rombauer Vineyards) while at a Holiday Vintners dinner at the Ahwahnee (Yosemite Park).  ~These Holiday Vintners dinners are “highly recommended” bucket-list wine events.  Click Here For Info.~  The Havill’s were huge fans of Rombauer and shortly into a conversation with Koerner, expressed their interest of owning a vineyard/winery.  Koerner’s words of wisdom; “Well, if you want to buy a vineyard, go to Amador County because you can get an affordable piece of property there: the grapes are great, and the winemaking is getting better and better.”

In 2006, they took that advice and purchased 50 acres, of which 20 acres had planted grapes, in Amador County.  Relocating from the Bay-Area the Havill’s both quit their full-time jobs to focus solely on the vineyard.  Planting, replanting and tending to their 20+acres of vines, they grow; Zinfandel, Primitivo, Vermentino, Roussanne, Grenache, Grenache Blanc, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Mourvedre.  Their path to greatness was solidified when Wine Business Monthly named them a TOP 10 HOT BRANDS of 2017!  More than just a “BEST OF” list, this ranking is peer-to-peer and showcases exciting new wineries/wine brands solely to other wine industry professionals, winemakers and winery owners.  It truly is an honor and puts their brand/juice at the forefront of the US wine market!

SO BACK TO THE WINE!  First of all, 2016 was an excellent growing season and harvest began earlier than years past.  Yields and quality were EXCEPTIONAL producing aromatics that can be found instantly wafting from your glass.  Deep flavors of wild cherry and vanilla coat your palate with a touch of spice, but the wine itself is luscious and balanced.  The finish…perfection!!!  All we can say is… DOUBLE-GOLD SF CHRONICLE WINE COMPETITION – AMADOR COUNTY – ZINFANDEL – $14.95/BOTTLE!!!  BUY NOW!

Bella Grace Zinfandel 2016 (Amador County, CA)

$20/bottle or $14.95/bottle on 6+

Tasting Notes:  “This Double Gold Medal Zinfandel is one of those classic Amador wines, with lovely garnet color and hints of roasted coconut, strawberry, vanilla and wild cherry on the nose. The wild cherry carries through to the palette, building to a climax of ripe fig. It has a long lingering finish of juicy red currant.”

Enjoy with red meats either roasted or on the BBQ. This is also a Zinfandel with a big enough range to cover most traditional Italian dishes and spicy Mexican dishes.
