INNAGURAL RELEASE!!!

WE ARE THE FIRST TO HAVE “DEADEYE” IN THE SACRAMENTO MARKET & SO YOU SHOULD HAVE IT TOO!!!

Nothing brings more excitement to a wine shop or restaurant than having a NEW LABEL grace the wine racks and/or wine list.  Located in Auburn, we are either the first or last delivery stop for most of our distributors/brokers.  We can’t tell you how many times a wine comes in at 5pm and staff members are calling trying to find out the price so they can share it with their patrons immediately.  We’re beating them to the punch with this BAD-BOY and getting the word on the street that “DEADEYE” is NOW at CV!

The first release from Provenance was in 1999 and they were instantly established as a premier Napa Valley Cabernet House.  Understanding that to produce superior Cabernet Sauvignon, you must grow superior grapes, that is exactly what they do, all while being 100% certified sustainable and “Napa Green!”

Since 1999, their portfolio has exploded and produced countless 90+ point wines year-after-year.  So when we were approached as one of the first accounts to taste/buy the 2016 Provenance “Deadeye” Red Blend, we jumped at the opportunity.

Though it’s technically called a red blend the 2016 Provenance “Deadeye” is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec, 0.5% Petit Verdot, which makes this a CAB SAUV in our book!  Heavily concentrated from smaller grape clusters, this wine has an abundance of black cherry and blackberry on the nose.  Influence from 22 months on 95% French Oak & 5% Hungarian Oak (35% new) reveals espresso, herbs and spice.

Winemaker Trevor Durling and his team put some real TLC into the harvesting and producing of this wine.  After hand-harvesting, the grapes were destemmed and 60% were retained as whole berries to maximize the fruit.  We won’t get into specifics, but the hands-on approach created a remarkable wine with flavors of juicy plum, raspberries and vanilla.  True to the RUTHERFORD core, the wine has some “grit” and lets you know its not for the faint of heart.  The quality is exceptional, and the wine is delicious now, but will continue to mature over the next 10-15 years.  Absolutely worth every bit of $60…but downright thievery at $44.95/bottle!

Tasting Notes:  “Aromas of black cherry, blackberry and roasted espresso invite the senses, complemented by subtle notes of herbs and spice. Expressive and opulent the palate showcases structured tannins, rounded out by flavors of plum, raspberry and vanilla. Fleshy and chewy, this wine is delicious now but will continue to mature for at least 10 – 15 years.”
