Only 9 Days until THANKSGIVING!
YUP, we went there…a Thanksgiving countdown! But it’s a good thing, because for the next nine days we will be running a “Today’s Deal” on one wine, each day, that will pair perfectly with your Thanksgiving Feast! So…let the deals begin!!!
We’re coming out of the oven – HOT – with a spectacular deal on a recent wc selection called “THE DUDE,” a 2016 red blend from Napa Valley! Though the name doesn’t exactly suggest it…this wine is SERIOUS WINE and for under 20 BUCKS, with 100% NAPA VALLEY FRUIT…it’s a downright steal. Partners Mark Canepa & Neil Koch have over 25 years of combined experience in the wine industry. CANEPA, has been working with Seguin Moreau, one of the world’s premier cooperages (barrels) in the world since 2010. KOCH, has had experience in all facets of the wine business, but most importantly, trained under winemaker Philippe Melka (Seavey, Bryant Family, Vineyard 29)and was Enologist/Assistant Winemaker at Lewis Cellars. Together, their connections with premier vineyard managers and winemakers lead them to outstanding opportunities sourcing top-notch fruit at obtainable prices. Hence – THE DUDE.

65% Cab Sauv, 15% Merlot, 15% Cab Franc, & 5% Petite Verdot
The 2016 “The Dude” has it all, plum, blueberry, violets, black currant and wild, brambly blackberry fruit. It keeps opening with cocoa bean, a sweet blue fruit perfume wrapped in sweet oak. The wine is fat, round and ready to drink now.
WHY WE LIKE IT?!?
Canepa & Koch keep this simple and don’t over complicate the wine. The traditional Bordeaux-style blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petite Verdot are a true representation of Napa Valley to it’s core. The flavors are robust and bountiful, yet not overpowering. The oak is present, but laced beautifully with the fruit, again creating a harmonious balance. In all honesty, for the QPR (quality/price ratio) this wine should be on every Thanksgiving table and you might still have a couple leftover bottles for Christmas!
Cheers,
The CV Crew
