“Light strawberry in color, the 2013 Lucy Rosé is fresh and bright with highlights of rose petal, near-ripe strawberry, orange peel and seashells. The palate is crisp with refreshing acidity, indicating a wonderful pair with a wide variety of dishes and occasions. Enjoy chilled.”

Jay’s Take:  “Only a limited amount of this wine is produced each year.  Light, refreshing, and arromatic, perfect for any occasion. Can’t go wrong with a Jeff Pisoni wine!”

Wonderwall (By Field Recordings) Pinot Noir 2013 (Edna Valley)

Wonderwall-152x362.125741$19.99/bottle or $17.99/bottle on six +

Winery Tasting Notes:
“Barkish, round, yummy in the land of Narnia. You just rolled out in your whip. Now there’s a fruit roll up in a usable section of tea tree bark your grandfather kept in a vintage cigar box. Your brother always hid from you. Dark orange energy magnetically pulls you. You find yourself in an abandoned Studebaker factory where all the ripe rootsy flavors of unsweetened chocolate, orange rind and Dr. Emmet Brown are making bright cherry pie. They let it cool on the windowsill while your scratch off lottery ticket reveals the three cherries. You win. Clean up your pencil shavings and guzzle.”

Jay’s Take: “Unsure if it was him or the grapes, Winemaker Andrew Jones always felt there was a barrier between him and the wine he wanted.  Now, he has broken through with Wonderwall Pinot Noir.”

“Inviting aromas of boysenberry, vanilla and dark chocolate swirl in the glass. Rich flavors of ripe black cherry coupled with hints of creme brulee sugar crust and butterscotch weave through the palate. Balanced acidity and polished tannins on the finish.”

Jay’s Take:  “This is a brand new winery to the scene.  This wine exhibits balaced acidity, firm tannin, and ripe fruit structure that is beggin’ for BBQ.”

Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 (Central Coast)

1302313.132554$19.99/bottle or $14.99/bottle on six +

Winery Tasting Notes:
“Vibrant purple color with expressive aromas of blackberries and cassis. The spectacular 2012 vintage produced fruit with incredible intensity throughout the Central Coast. Sourcing grapes from vineyards in San Antonio Valley, Arroyo Seco and Paso Robles, this vintage of Smith & Hook is multilayered and balanced blend from these different regions. This wine pairs a vibrant purple color with expressive aromas of blackberries and cassis. Richly textured on the palate, this wine?s robust tannins provide a frame for black cherry flavors and spicy notes of vanilla and cloves.”

Jay’s Take:  “Smith & Hook, part of the Hahn Family of Wines, is a great representation of cabernet from the Central Coast.  This wine received Best in Class from the California State Fair, and it normally retails for $25 at the winery.”
