We Mark a “Decade in Dining” with Killer Prix Fixe

Now I’m really starting to feel old.  We launched Carpe Vino in 2002, some 14 years ago.  My son, Drew, was 21 and I was married at the time.  Advance the clock, and Drew turns 35 today (as I write this on April 9); I’m single and 65; and Carpe Vino’s restaurant celebrates its 10th anniversary all month.

This a photo from 2007, less than a year after the restaurant opened, with a younger version of Drew and Gary cutting our 5th Anniversary cake.We did a photo shoot of our staff in May 2007. . .Courtney, Eric and Paul haven’t changed at all.

To recognize this milestone, Chef Alexander–who has been at the helm in the kitchen with his wife, Courtney McDonald since we opened the restaurant in April, 2006–is creating a very special prix-fixe for this month:  A Decade in Dining–Past, Present and Future.  He’ll be reprising some classic dishes from our Dark Ages to previewing cutting edge cuisine.  Details to be revealed next week.

Mark your calendars for April 26 to May 1.  Program is refreshingly familiar. . .four courses for $59.95++ per person.  Best to call 530-823-0320 now to make reservations or go online to www.opentable.com.  While this is going to be an awesome party, no gifts please!  Your presence is all the reward we seek.

Step into the Wayback Machine and set the dial to 2006.  In addition to the aforementioned Carpe Vino lifers, you’d find one Paul Roosen, who is the last remaining service staff from our original crew.  Two more key people who weren’t there at the beginning but are still long in the tooth in terms of staff longevity are Master Sgt. Ada Campos, our long-time FOH manager and our beloved Carpe Vino Wine Club Manager, Jana Kosmata.

Watch this space for more details coming next week.
