$9.99/Bottle or $8.49/bottle on 6+

Winery Tasting Notes:  “100% Bobal From vineyards planted at close to 3000 feet altitude, the limestone infused clay soils are perfect for growing Bobal, the indigenous grape to this area. A gentle skin maceration is followed by cool a cool fermentation presenting a wine with floral, strawberry notes in the nose. Good acidity and a pleasant mineral backbone make this wine very appealing super food-friendly.”

BOBAL – similar to Graciano or Monastrell.  Better acidity then Monastrell, lower in alcohol, producking well-structured but velvety fresh reds.  QUOTE – “Quaffable, fresh Bobal roses are also on the increase!” -Wine Grapes

IMG-0053.071030Saintsbury Vin Gris 2016 (Carneros, CA)

$21/bottle or $18.99/bottle on 6+

Winery Tasting Notes:  “Guava, nectarine, honeydew melon and white flowers on nose. Wild strawberry, cantaloupe and Meyer lemon layer the palate, with bright tangy acidity and mineral notes on the finish.”

VIN GRIS – Vin gris is a term that can be used for rosé wine just as the words “blush” and “pink” can be used. The French expression—which translates literally as “grey wine”—traditionally refers to a wine made from red wine grapes, but with white winemaking practices. So, instead of fermenting the grapes with their skins, which would extract a lot of color, the wine is made from the juice, which will be mostly clear but with a pink tinge. Keep in mind that the term is not regulated, but I believe most vintners use it in the spirit of the traditional method.

Some winemakers make a vin gris not just because they want to make a rosé, but also because the red grapes can still be used to make red wine. Draining off this first bit of juice is one strategy to concentrate the remaining flavors and colors.  – DR. VINNY “Wine Spectator”

IMG-0054.071212La Sirena Rosato 2017 (Amador County, CA)

$27.95/bottle or $23.76/bottle on 6+

Winery Tasting Notes:  100% Primitivo “The 2017 Rosato is made from Primitive grapes sourced from Amador county in the foothills of California. The color is vibrant salmon pink, with aromas of beautiful ripe fruit, reminiscent of cranberry sauce, strawberries, and honeysuckle.  Lively across the palate and delicious with similar flavors to the aromatics. This rose is bone dry and elegant with crisp acidity and pure clear flavors. Great balance of acidity, mouthfeel, and fruit character. A fun, unusual varietal rose that’s very easy to love. Enjoy!”

ROSATO – Rosato is what Italians call their rosé. It’s made in the same methods as any other rosé, but it’s unlike any other rosé because it’s often made with indigenous grapes rarely seen outside of Italy. Whereas you can find rosés made of Syrah or Grenache from the southern coast of France all the way to the northern coast of California. Varietals like Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Barbera, Nerello Mascalese, and Canaiolo create fruit-forward and savory rosatos that are fuller in flavor, but just as easy (and delicious) to drink. BON APPETIT
