What started as a little Utah distillery in 2006 by husband & wife team David & Jane Perkins, has grown into one of the most iconic American distilleries in the UNITED STATES (west of the Mississippi)! The internationally-recognized brand now has four unique locations. In 2015, High West opened their distillery in Wanship, Utah, which acts as a space for educational whiskey tasting, pairings and tours, and houses a 1600-gallon copper pot still. What’s in the package?
High West “Rendezvous Rye” Whiskey (Utah) 750ML: “Our inaugural whiskey commemorates the first recorded whiskey-fest out West. From 1825 to 1840, the “rendezvous” was the annual summer gathering of mountain men to exchange pelts for supplies. Alcohol was not one of the “supplies” at the first rendezvous. This oversight was quickly corrected with a generous supply of whiskey at the second rendezvous in Utah’s Cache Valley (and all subsequent rendezvous!). In this tradition of importing whiskey from back East, we craft Rendezvous Rye from straight rye whiskeys with high rye mashbills. A higher proportion of malted rye gives Rendezvous a unique flavor profile with notes of spicy cinnamon, caramel, honey, molasses, dried fruit, and vanilla. Rendezvous Rye is not chill filtered, a cosmetic step used to remove the natural oils that cause a haze when whiskey gets cold. This also removes flavor, texture, and the lingering finish we really enjoy. If you see a harmless “haze” in Rendezvous Rye, just swirl the bottle and it will go away.”
NOSE: A big nose of cinnamon stick, clove, vanilla, peppermint, caramelized sugar, and dried fruit.
TASTE: Very spicy, with cinnamon, crisp mint, and fennel, underlying sweet notes of caramel, molasses, vanilla, macaroon, cocoa, and candied fruit
FINISH: Takes hold with huge rye spice, cinnamon, orange rind, and vanilla, and it lingers for ages.

High West Whiskey “American Prairie” Bourbon (Utah) 750ML: High West Distillery is passionate about the American West’s natural beauty. That’s why we want to raise awareness of one of the most fantastic projects of our time: the American Prairie Reserve in northeastern Montana. This is an amazing effort to assemble the largest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 states. When stepping onto the plains of American Prairie Reserve, it’s easy to imagine the landscape as Lewis and Clark and Native Americans saw it, with thundering herds of bison, racing bands of pronghorn antelope and prairie dog towns dotting the horizon. When complete, the Reserve will be approximately 5,000 square miles; larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Grand Teton National Parks combined.
Our American Prairie is a carefully crafted blend of straight bourbons at least 2 years old, making a great sipper and thoughtful person’s whiskey.
NOSE: Light caramel and sweet vanilla.
TASTE: Rich and earthy on the palate with well balanced flavors of candy corn, honey nougat and sweet cornbread biscuits.
FINISH: Vanilla with a hint of caramel apple.
